In this day and age, technology allows precise navigation of the seas even in conditions where visibility is zero. However, there are times when technology may fail or be unable to provide the solutions we need, and in these cases lighthouses are still needed to ensure safe navigation of our coast. There are still over a hundred lighthouses standing in the UK today, some of which are still used and some which have been retained for their historic value or converted for another purpose.

Besides their functionality, the lighthouses around England embody a great deal of our history, and usually have fantastic stories to tell. As part of our steeplejack services, we are able to carry out repair and restoration work on lighthouses around the country, ensuring they remain in excellent condition while still retaining their special charm.

Lighthouses face various potential problems, including land erosion due to their coastal location and the corrosive effects of being constantly exposed to sea air and salt water. There can also be structural damage caused by large storms and the problem of seagulls nesting in them. In all cases, we carry out a full assessment to ensure we fully understand the problem and do all we can to ensure that the lighthouse is repaired and restored to look the way it was intended to.

With so many of the lighthouses in England remaining active today to ensure safe and secure navigation of our coast, it’s essential that they are professionally maintained and kept in the correct working order. We have become established as a leading choice for all structural lighthouse repair requirements. Due to their continued use and their significance to the history of our country, we are proud to continue working on these fascinating structures, as well as installing lightning protection and carrying out repairs on all other kinds of tall structures.
